About this plant
Areca is the heart of Pranavi Areca Nursery. Our seedlings are of the Thirthahalli type, a traditional tall areca from the Malnad region of Karnataka that is widely planted across the state's high-rainfall belt and valued by growers for its nut quality.
Seedlings are raised in polybags and hardened in the open before dispatch, so they are ready to go into the field. When you visit or enquire, we can share current photos and help you choose plants of uniform size for your plot.
Choosing a good seedling
- Around 12 to 18 months old, with five or more healthy green leaves
- A short, thick collar (the base of the stem), which is a sign of vigour
- No yellowing, leaf spots, or damage to the growing point
- Roots contained in an intact polybag
