About this plant
Avocado, often called butter fruit in Karnataka, grows well in Kodagu and is increasingly planted as a companion crop in coffee and areca holdings as well as in home gardens.
The most important rule for avocado is drainage: the roots are very sensitive to standing water, which invites root rot. Plant on well-drained ground or on a raised mound, and mulch well.
